This PD will provide information on how to log into the SLO reporting system and navigate the online format. Additionally, faculty will have the opportunity to walk through "how to" create, save, and submit an SLO report for their courses. This step-by-step will help all faculty feel confident about creating and submitting an SLO report for their course(s).
This professional development opportunity will allow faculty to see the connection between their course student learning outcomes, the assignments they use to assess those outcomes and reflect on the level of student success and alignment between SLOs and assignments. Helping faculty understand the importance and relative ease of completing an SLO report may lead to more faculty reflecting on the effectiveness of their assignments in assessing course outcomes as well as helping faculty reflect on who is being successful and why that might be. Furthermore, this analysis can help uncover disparities in outcomes or potential issues with assignments/assessments.
Participants will:
- locate the SLO reporting system on the Sac City Employee home page.
- practice logging into the SLO reporting sight and create a report for at least one of their courses.
- create an SLO report for at least one of their courses.
- analyze information and data collected from student assignments and assessments to write an analysis or report for the course.
- reflect and suggest modifications, if any, to the course and course assignments to improve student outcomes and success in the course(s).
This PD event's format will be a tutorial style. This will allow the participants to actively engage in their own SLO reporting and create and save their own reports. This hands-on opportunity will provide faculty with the opportunity to learn how to and begin the process of writing an SLO report for at least one of their classes.
