Linguistic justice is an antiracist approach to language and literacy education. It is about dismantling Anti-Black Linguistic Racism and white linguistic hegemony and supremacy in classrooms around the world.
Linguistic justice does not see White Mainstream English as the be-all and end-all.
This workshop will encourage all faculty who require writing to reflect on their grading, assessment and evaluation of students who write in forms of English that deviate from the White mainstream norms. This workshop will challenge the superiority and legitimacy of requiring students to use White mainstream English in academic settings.
