Instructors from the Field Ecology Program at SCC will take you out to Land Park for some navigation basics. This is the first lab we usually do in our Field Methods in Ecology course - after all, a biologist needs to be able to navigate in the field. For this activity, you will calibrate your stride distance and learn how to use a compass to navigate to specific locations where you will take a GPS reading. We will then return to the LRC and use the computer lab to map your navigation on Google Earth...let's see how close you came to the actual locations!
