The Sacramento City College New Faculty Academy (NFA) is intended to be a catalyst for transformative organizational change, that begins in the classroom and that is noted for producing equitable outcomes for all students. Its focus on culturally responsive teaching, innovation, and transformation is designed to foster collegial relationships and provide meaningful and relevant experiences for NFAers and their students.
Although much good work has occurred, the pandemic resulted in rather abrupt disconnects between NFA’s intended goal and desired outcomes. Let’s reconnect, share, and reorient our focus.
Audience
NFA alumni, all years.
About the Presenters
Dr. Debra Crumpton has been teaching as a full-time faculty member at Sacramento City College since 2008 and has served as the NFA coordinator since 2017. Her rather diverse work life included a military career that included service in Germany, co-founding a mortgage company here in Sacramento and serving as the Executive Director of the California Head Start Association, serving 88,000 children and families and over 200 agencies. Along the way, Debra authored “Mastering Change Through Conscious Choice, Twelve Secrets for Surviving and Thriving in the New World of Work.”
These experiences have culminated in her most significant, enjoyable, and rewarding work yet - teaching at Sacramento City College! There is no place she would rather be and nothing else she would rather be doing.
