Online education or "Distance Education", is highly regulated, and several overlapping state and federal laws and local policies govern the way we set up and run our online classes. In this session, the campus Distance Education Coordinator, Kandace Knudson from the Center for Online Learning and Teaching, introduces the definition of Regular and Substantive Interaction and explains what it looks like in online courses.

Kandace Knudson, PhD, MPH, is a professor in the Center for Online Learning and Teaching and the campus Distance Education Coordinator. She chairs the Academic Senate DE and Curriculum DE Subcommittees and is always looking for ways to reduce technostress and information overload for the SCC community.
