This T4E kick-off event will provide an overview of SCC's equity mission and how T4E fits into SCC's larger equity plan. Additionally, this event will provide an opportunity to introduce the new cohort to former T4E participants, and other SCC equity champions.

Presenter

Alexandria White is a community advocate, a teacher, a writer, a natural health enthusiast, a backyard urban gardener, and a life-long student of yoga, dance and martial arts. She is also an idealist, a dreamer and a Mother. Alexandria teaches English composition and literature at Sacramento City College. At SCC she is currently the Teachers for Equity coordinator; T4E is SCC’s anti-racism and educational equity professional development program. She also works with the UMOJA learning community, which is an academic program for African-American students. In 2005 she earned a B.A. in creative writing from San Francisco State University and while there she studied abroad to the United Kingdom for an academic school year. Later she attended the University of California, Santa Cruz and earned an M.A. in Literature in 2009. In January 2019 she was awarded the Unsung Hero Award by the California Black Legislative Caucus for her community service in the Oak Park Sacramento area. During 2021-2022 she was a Stanford EPIC Global Studies Fellow. She currently resides in Oak Park with her life-partner and their son, daughter, Mother-in law and two fur babies.
