In this hands-on session, faculty will explore how AI image-generation tools are being used in creative disciplines and consider how they might apply to teaching across fields.
Drawing from examples in graphic design, Design & Digital Media professor and AI Coordinator Don Button will examine how design students and professionals use generative AI to create images, prototype visuals, and experiment with ideas without replacing disciplinary thinking or human judgment.
Participants will then try AI image generation themselves, creating visuals relevant to their own subjects and interests.
Along the way, we will reflect on both the possibilities and the limitations of these tools, including questions of creativity, authorship, and appropriate classroom use.
