Generative AI has changed the classroom in ways that call for honest, ongoing conversation between instructors and students. Faculty and students are often on opposite sides of that conversation: one side suspicious, the other anxious.
This session offers a different approach. Drawing on survey data from an SCC student survey, current research, and real classroom voices, we'll explore practical strategies for having open, honest conversations about generative AI use — both theirs and yours.
Organized around three core themes — Trust, Transparency, and Talking Through It — this session examines how your personal "why" can drive your AI policy, and offers classroom activities that foster dialogue rather than suspicion.
Come ready to reflect, share, and leave with strategies you can put to use right away.
