Celebration of Excellence
The Celebration of Excellence is an event recognizing our incredible colleagues, special people who have touched our hearts and who have played an important role in building the success of Sacramento City College. Nominations occur every Spring.
Recipients are acknowledged at campus-wide events such as Convocation.
The Honors and Awards Committee recognizes individual employees with the Individual Excellence Award and teams via the Team Excellence Award for exemplary performance and achievement.
Nomination Period
Nominations will be accepted starting February 14, 2026, Valentine’s Day! Profess your appreciation and love to an SCC individual or team with a nomination submission!
Nominations close on April 1, 2026. Rather than hoaxing, tricking, or pranking a colleague, honor them by submitting a nomination acknowledging their contributions.
Nominations will be accepted without the full video being complete if there is a definitive plan for the videos to be complete by the last day of classes for a semester.

How to Nominate
Create a narrative using a shared document that others can contribute to, which explains the reasons for the nomination.
Some reasons for a nomination might include:
- exhibits expertise in their job area
- performs their job in an exemplary manner
- works for the betterment of the college and its students
- demonstrates qualities of leadership and/or initiative
- represents the college with distinction in professional and community activities
- earns the respect of fellow employees and/or students involved in campus events
- volunteers time and energy above and beyond the assignment
- promotes the values of anti-racism and equity-mindedness
This narrative can guide your video nomination, which may be shown at an event such as Convocation. You may be as creative as you like in the video nomination.
The video nomination may include:
- a slide show (PowerPoint, Canva, Google Slides, etc.)
- live footage of the nominee/team in action
- narration
- a series of individuals impacted by the nominee's incredibleness, expressing their appreciation
- recording of a Zoom meeting
We require videos be no longer than 3 minutes to be shown at events such as Convocation. The Honors and Awards Committee asks you to provide sufficient information so we can evaluate all submissions as fairly as possible.
If you are having trouble with the video nomination, and it is holding up your nomination submission, please submit your nomination without a video. The video can come later with the Committee's help if needed.

If you create a video, you can upload it to a YouTube account. Auto-captioning will occur within a few days, and then can be corrected by watching the video and pausing and correcting for punctuation and spelling.

Team Excellence Award Nomination
For the Team Excellence Award, a team is defined as a group of interdependent people who work collaboratively and closely together toward a common goal. Team members may not nominate their own team.
Individual Excellence Award Nomination
The Individual Excellence Award is open for nominations of any administrative, certificated, or classified professional, full-time, part-time, or temporary, who has demonstrated excellence in their daily activities and contributed to the enhancement and prestige of the college.
