Classified Senate is looking for Mentors and Mentees to get us working together in 2026, and you can be a part!
Mentorship teams provide:
- a connection framework for professional growth
- community care principles in action
- help with building confidence in navigating college processes
We are so excited to announce that our mentorship cohort for Sacramento City College Classified Professionals is back!
Grounded in the spirit of the Rooted Sessions and Caring Campus, this program is designed to pair colleagues together to support each other through a variety of campus experiences.
What to Expect
Mentees
Mentees (priority for employees with two years or less at SCC) will be paired with experienced Mentors who can share insights about college operations, resources, and campus culture.
Everyone interested will be considered, and we will do our best to match all participants.
Mentors
Potential Mentors may include Classified Professionals who:
- Have served at SCC or within Los Rios for at least two years
- Are comfortable guiding others through various campus processes
- Enjoy connecting with colleagues and sharing institutional knowledge and building relationships
Mentorship Teams
Mentorship teams will be offered a number of opportunities to connect and engage with each other through Classified Senate standing experiences, such as Rooted Sessions and Classified Retreat.
Mentoring team commitments will be for at least one year.
Formal Gatherings
Formalized Classified Mentor Cohort gatherings are currently in the planning stages.
These gatherings will likely consist of no more than two discussions/functions per semester.
Informal Gatherings
Mentor teams will also be given resources to come together in more informal methods.
Teams will be expected to connect more routinely outside of these formalized meetings one or two times per month by email, phone, or in-person.
Teams Announced
Mentorship teams will be announced at the start of the Spring 2026 semester.
