With 10 years of service split between American River College and SCC, she brings a deep understanding of the district and a strong commitment to advocacy. Silvia Aguirre-Barr serves as the Secretary of the Sacramento City College Classified Senate. She has been part of the SCC community for nearly 15 years, supporting the Business, Computer Information Science, and Distance Learning Division Office. Quarmaine serves as the CET Officer for the Sacramento City College Classified Senate. He has been part of the SCC community for over 24 years, beginning as a student in 2001, later working as a Counseling Clerk, and now serving in Media Services. A dedicated advocate for classified professionals, Quarmaine has previously served as Senator, Vice President, and Interim President of the Senate. Outside of SCC, he is an independent filmmaker and sound engineer with a passion for storytelling, live event production, and horror-themed media.

He began his career at SCC in 2012 after transferring from American River College and has served as a permanent Los Rios employee for nearly 20 years. Throughout his time at SCC, Kevin has held multiple leadership roles in the Classified Senate, including President and Vice President. He is passionate about ensuring the classified voice is heard and represented both on campus and throughout the Los Rios Community College District. Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to support current Senate officers in achieving their goals. She has been part of the SCC community for over 8 years, working in Outreach & Recruitment and the Panther Den to support student success. Sarita is committed to elevating the classified professional experience by building collaborations and ensuring classified staff have a voice that is heard. She believes that when classified professionals are motivated to do their best, students are inspired to do theirs. In her free time, Sarita enjoys reading (always the paper kind), dancing to 80s New Wave, listening to Lucinda Williams, and watching British crime dramas. Humor and food are her love languages—she often says, “If we don’t laugh, we cry,” and “I like to eat my emotions.”

Although she has been with SCC for just one year, Courtney has been deeply inspired by the welcoming and supportive atmosphere that classified professionals create for one another and for students. Previously serving as a CSEA union steward at another college, Courtney brings with her valuable experience in advocacy and collaboration. Graciela Castañeda Aguayo serves as a Senator for Area 6 in the Sacramento City College Classified Senate, alongside Courtney Bowie. She has been part of the SCC community for several years—first as a student worker, then as a Classified Temp Student Support Assistant at Panther CARES, and now in her full-time role supporting the Campus Interventions Office under Dean Coleman. Graciela joined the Senate because she believes in fostering a safe and collaborative culture where classified professionals feel empowered and have opportunities to grow and build their knowledge to better serve students. On weekends, you’ll likely find her on the sidelines of multiple soccer games, cheering and managing teams for her family and friends. And one more thing—she absolutely loves anything pink!

Monica M. Souza serves as the Senator for Area 7 in the Sacramento City College Classified Senate. She has worked in the Los Rios Community College District for over 30 years, beginning her journey as a student employee at American River College. Monica is a proud alumna of ARC, SCC, and California State University, Sacramento. A three-time recipient of the SCC Classified Community Outreach Award, Monica is a strong believer in the power of collaboration and community. She is a long-time advocate for professional development, participatory governance, and classified professional leadership—serving at the state level as President Emerita of the California Community Colleges Classified Senate. In addition to her campus contributions, Monica has volunteered extensively with local and state nonprofit organizations, particularly within California’s Portuguese communities. Stephanie Cortez serves as the Classified Senate Senator for Area 9 at Sacramento City College.
